MOTOCROSS TWINSHOCKS/EVOLUTION SERIES |
These dampers have been designed to fit on motocross bikes from around 1975 until 1984 when most motocross rear suspension went to a monoshocks design. These dampers are based on a larger 36 mm diameter
bore aluminium shock absorber body, bigger in diameter than
the shocks absorbers for earlier model motocross bikes. They
carry more oil internally and with the aluminium bodies and top
quality shock absorber oils, have no tendancy towards daper fade
during a race hardened high tensile hard-chromed damper piston rods
are used to help resist stone damage, and are used with polyurethane seals, which are more wear and damage resistant than an ordinary rubber seals. All the sizes in the chart below have been measured from standard bikes. Damper lengths can be custom built to suit personal requirement, as well as the spring rates being selected for individual rider weights. Always check your own bolt fixings as they could be different. Damping characteristics are set up to suit the spring rates, as stronger springs require more damping for correct damping control. |

SHOCKS FOR SPECIAL TWINSHOCK MOTOCROSS BIKES |
We are increasingly being asked to supply shock absorbers for special twinshock motocross bikes. These usually take the form of a monoshock bike converted for twinshocks, or non standard swinging arms being fitted to existing twinshock machines. FOR FITTING NEW SHOCK ABSORBERS
ON ANY BIKE, THE ONUS IS ON THE BIKE OWNER TO ENSURE THAT THERE IS SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE AROUND THE SHOCK ABSORBERS
AND SPRINGS, OVER THE FULL TRAVEL OF THE REAR SUSPENSION.
WE ACCEPT NO LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO THE SHOCK ABSORBERS BY
NOT CHECKING CLEARANCE AS THIS IS COMPLETELY OUT OF OUR CONTROL.
ANY SUCH DAMAGE IS NOT COVERED BY OUR GUARANTEE. THERE SHOULD BE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE FRAME, SWINGING ARM, AIR BOX, AND EXHAUST SYSTEMS.
IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT BIKES LIKE THE HONDA CR 250 RED ROCKET 1978/79 REQUIRE MODIFICATIONS TO THE TOP SHOCK MOUNTINGS TO CLEAR PIGGYBACK SHOCK BRACKET.
A good way of checking for clearance is to fit the shock absorbers without the springs and move the back wheel through it full travel. The rubber shock mounts can compress by up to 2 mm on bottoming out the suspension and allowance should be made for this. If in doubt please contact the factory |
FALCON SPRINGS FOR TWIN SHOCKS |
Our range of stock springs will also fit Corte Cosso and Ohlin shocks (see charts below for details). We also supply the spring separators that locate the
Top spring and
These spring separators are made from polyacetal which does not absorb moisture, does not swell and is extremely hard wearing in dirty conditions |
