FITTING NEW SHOCK MOUNTING RUBBER BUSHES

1)	`REMOVE THE OLD RUBBER BUSHES FROM THE SHOCKS AND CLEAN THE SHOCK EYES WHERE THE NEW BUSHES ARE TO BE FITTED.`

2)	`GREASE UP THE OUTSIDE DIAMETER OF THE BUSHES AND THE SHOCK EYES. ANY GREASE WILL DO THE JOB.`

3)	`PUT THE RUBBER BUSHES INTO A CONTAINER, AND POUR BOILING WATER OVER THE BUSHES, AND ALLOW THEM TO SOFTEN IN THE HEAT FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES.`

4)	`REMOVE THE BUSH FROM THE HOT WATER WITH A SCREWDRIVER, AND PUSH THE BUSH HALFWAY THROUGH THE SHOCK EYE WITH THE VICE JAWS. TURN THE SHOCK ON IT'S SIDE, AND SUPPORTING IT ON A BLOCK OF WOOD, KNOCK THE RUBBER BUSH THROUGH THE LENGTH OF THE SHOCK EYE UNTIL IT PASSES THROUGH INTO PLACE IN THE CORRECT POSITION. YOU MAY REQUIRE TO RE-SOFTEN THE BUSHES IN THE HOT WATER AGAIN, IF IT DOES NOT GO COMPLETELY THROUGH THE SHOCK EYE FIRST TIME.`

5)	`IF FITTED, SQUEEZE THE GREASED UP, METAL SLEEVE INTO THE CENTRE OF THE RUBBER BUSH WHILE THE RUBBER IS STILL WARM AND Supple.`

6)	We strongly recommend that every 3 months the rubber shock absorber bushes are capable of easy rotation in the shock absorber eye. it is important that this maintenance is carried out to ensure smooth action of the rear suspension. A few drops of oil each side of the bush and worked between the surface of the rubber and the shock eye will ensure that this bearing surface is free to rotate.
